5-HTP is an amino acid that can be converted into serotonin in the body, a neurotransmitter associated with mood and sleep. Vitamin B6, in the form of P-5-P, acts as an essential cofactor in this conversion.
5-HTP Supreme™ contains two active ingredients. The first is 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP, 100 mg), an intermediate amino acid in tryptophan metabolism, obtained from the seed extract of Griffonia simplicifolia — a plant native to West Africa. 5-HTP is a substance with no authorized health claims under EC Regulation 432/2012; its use as a supplement should be done under the guidance of a healthcare professional, especially in people with a history of mood or sleep disorders, or those taking psychotropic medication. The second active ingredient is vitamin B6 (20 mg, in the form of pyridoxal-5-phosphate — the biologically active form), an essential nutrient with authorized EU claims for the normal functioning of the nervous system and psychological function.
Excipients are microcrystalline cellulose, cellulose (vegetable capsule), and L-leucine. Gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, non-GMO. Manufactured by Designs for Health in the USA, under cGMP standards, and distributed in the EU by Deltastar Nutrients (Netherlands).
Important considerations
