Eyewise W/Lutein 60 Comp. Lamberts

Eyewise® provides a total of 20 mg of lutein (pure, free form) per tablet, making our product one of the strongest available.

It also provides blueberry, blackberry and grape seed, all well-known plant polyphenols, as concentrated extracts. In addition, the mineral zinc and the B vitamin riboflavin, both known to contribute to the maintenance of normal vision and the protection of cells against oxidative stress.

Lutein is a yellow carotenoid that is not produced in the body and therefore must be obtained from green leafy vegetables in the diet. In plants, lutein is produced to help protect cellular contents from damage caused by sunlight. Our bodies are able to use lutein in the same way that it is deposited in the macula, where it filters out harmful wavelengths of sunlight that can damage the delicate light-receptor cells of the macula.

Research has shown that eating diets low in lutein can result in decreased levels of lutein in the macula. To correct this, you should try to include green leafy vegetables in your diet or, failing that, it is advisable to take a lutein supplement.
