WHC

WHC is a Belgian omega-3 brand, founded by Jo Wyckmans in Antwerp. It began working on the purification of fish oil through molecular distillation in 1999 and eventually became involved in the construction of the factory that produces its oils today. It is a single-focus brand, and it shows: everything revolves around concentration and purity.

How the oils are made

Manufacturing is carried out in Germany by KD Pharma, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical-grade omega-3 processing facilities, with whom the brand maintains an exclusive relationship. The refinement process uses supercritical CO₂ fluid chromatography as an alternative to conventional solvents. The oils are presented in rTG form, re-esterified triglycerides, with an omega-3 concentration of up to 95%.

The oils have a five-star IFOS rating, the highest level awarded by the independent Canadian program that analyzes, batch by batch, the stated content, purity regarding contaminants and heavy metals, and the degree of oxidation. The raw material comes from small pelagic species caught in quota-managed fisheries in the South Pacific, and the brand holds Friend of the Sea certification.

It is an extra manufacturing step, and therefore more expensive.

4. Five-star IFOS

The IFOSis an independent Canadian program that analyzes fish oils batch by batch: declared content, purity regarding contaminants and heavy metals, and degree of oxidation. O IFOS é um programa canadiano independente de análise de óleos de peixe, que avalia por lote o teor declarado, a pureza quanto a contaminantes e metais pesados e o grau de oxidação. A classificação de cinco estrelas é a mais alta da escala, e os relatórios podem ser consultados por lote.
De onde vem o peixe?
De pequenas espécies pelágicas capturadas em pescarias do Pacífico sul, junto ao Peru e ao Chile, geridas por quota e com épocas de pesca limitadas. Peixes pequenos têm ciclos de vida curtos, o que reduz a acumulação de contaminantes. A marca tem certificação Friend of the Sea.
