Iodine and selenium for the thyroid, in a daily tablet — Nutrined
Iodine and selenium are micronutrients with recognised claims for normal thyroid function. This product provides both, accompanied by zinc and L-tyrosine, in a tablet
The thyroid works in the background, and we rarely pay attention to it until something changes in our daily lives. Iodine and selenium for the thyroid are two of the nutrients the body uses in this function — iodine contributes to the normal production of thyroid hormones, selenium to the normal function of the thyroid. Nutrined's TSH Support combines both, with zinc and L-tyrosine, in a single tablet to be taken before a meal.
The formula is based on three minerals and one amino acid. Iodine is supplied from Fucus vesiculosus, a marine algae; selenium in the form of sodium selenite; zinc as gluconate. These three are the nutrients with recognised function in the formula — iodine and selenium in normal thyroid function, zinc in immunity and cell protection.
L-tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid, included here as a component of the formula. No specific functions are attributed to it: it is a component of composition, not of benefit. The same applies to the algae, which functions as a source of iodine and not as an ingredient with its own effect.
How it fits in
Compared to an isolated selenium supplement, this formula adds iodine — which is the other nutrient with a recognised thyroid claim. Compared to a general multivitamin, it is more focused. In tablet form, it requires no dosage.
To consider
- Those with diagnosed thyroid disease should consult their doctor before taking it. Iodine intake may not be suitable for all situations.
- Those taking levothyroxine or other thyroid medication should consult their doctor. Minerals can interfere with drug absorption, so doses should be separated.
- Do not take simultaneously with other supplements containing iodine, selenium or zinc — including multivitamins, kelp or algae.
✅ Iodine contributes to the normal production of thyroid hormones and to the normal functioning of the thyroid.

FAQs
This decision is up to the attending physician, not the labelling. Iodine intake has different implications depending on each person's situation, and this product does not replace clinical follow-up.
It's advisable to check the labels. Many multivitamins already contain iodine, selenium, and zinc, and adding more sources would exceed adequate amounts.
From Fucus vesiculosus, a type of seaweed. Those with allergies to seafood should check first.
