Medicinal Mushrooms

Medicinal mushrooms for wellness routines

Viva Saudável's Medicinal Mushrooms collection brings together supplements with functional mushrooms and mushroom extracts, designed to complement wellness, vitality, focus, and daily nutritional support routines. Here you will find products with ingredients such as reishi, lion's mane, cordyceps, chaga, shiitake, maitake, and mushroom complex blends.

Medicinal mushrooms are traditionally used in different cultures and currently appear in supplements in the form of capsules, powders, extracts, and combined formulas. The choice should consider the type of mushroom, the concentration of the extract, the presence of beta-glucans, the format, and suitability for individual routines.

Before using supplements with medicinal mushrooms, especially in cases of pregnancy, breastfeeding, medication, autoimmune disease, immunosuppression, allergies, or a clinical condition, it is advisable to seek advice from a healthcare professional.

How to choose a mushroom supplement

There can be significant differences between two products with the same mushroom name. There are four points that allow you to compare them.

1. The species

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum), shiitake, maitake, cordyceps and lion's mane (Hericium erinaceus) are the most common, either alone or in formulas with several species. Look for the botanical name on the label.

2. Mycelium or fruiting body

The fruiting bodyis the mushroom itself. The myceliumis the filamentous network that grows in the substrate and which, in some products, is sold along with it, which dilutes the mushroom content.

3. Extract and standardisation

Beta-glucans are the parameter by which many extracts are standardised. Double extraction combines hot water and alcohol to extract compounds soluble in each of the two media. Ground mushroom powder is not comparable, in milligrams, to an extract.

4. Precautions

Talk to your doctor if you take anticoagulants or immunosuppressants, if you have an autoimmune disease, if you are going to have surgery, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Those who have an allergy to mushrooms or fungi should avoid these products.

Perguntas frequentes
