When to talk to a doctor — and not postpone it

Urinary changes deserve clinical evaluation, not supplementation: difficulty starting urination, weak or interrupted stream, need to urinate several times during the night, urgency, or feeling of incomplete emptying. The most frequent cause of these symptoms in middle age is benign, but the diagnosis is for the doctor and not a store page. If you have symptoms, make an appointment before buying. In several European countries, Serenoa repens has the status of a traditional herbal medicine.

Perguntas frequentes

What is saw palmetto?
It is the fruit of Serenoa repens, a small palm tree native to the southeastern United States. The extracts used in supplements are obtained from mature fruits and are usually standardized to fatty acids and sterols.
What does "standardized extract" mean?
It means that the extract has been produced to ensure a defined percentage of specific compounds – in the case of saw palmetto, fatty acids and sterols. It allows for consistency between batches and is what distinguishes an extract from a simple dried fruit powder.
When should I see a doctor?
If you notice any changes in urination: difficulty initiating, weak stream, frequent nighttime urination, urgency, feeling of incomplete emptying, or blood in the urine. No supplement replaces this evaluation, and delaying it is not a good idea.
