Collagen

Collagen for skin, bones, and joints

The most abundant protein in the body, responsible for skin firmness and the structure of bones, joints, and tendons. With age, its natural production decreases, and supplementation helps replenish it.

Benefits

Collagen is sought after to support skin elasticity and firmness, as well as joint comfort. Many formulas include vitamin C, which contributes to the body's normal collagen production.

Types and formats

You can find hydrolyzed collagen in powder, capsule, and liquid forms, with easily absorbable peptides. Choose the format that best suits your routine — powder dissolves well in drinks, and results are noticeable with continued use.

FAQs

Collagen type I is the most abundant in the body and supports the skin, tendons, bones, and nails. Type II is specific to articular cartilage and is the most recommended for joint pain and mobility. Type III is present in the skin, blood vessels, and organs, and is important for tissue elasticity and regeneration.

Vitamin C is an essential cofactor for collagen synthesis: without it, the body cannot produce functional collagen. In addition, vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects existing collagen from degradation by free radicals. Many collagen supplements already include vitamin C in their formulation.

Marine (fish) collagen is mainly type I and II, with smaller molecules that are more easily absorbed by the intestine. It is the preferred option for skin and joints. Bovine collagen contains types I and III, being a more economical and equally effective option for most purposes.
