The only active ingredient in Thorne's Milk Thistle Phytosome is silybin phytosome (Siliphos®, Indena S.p.A., Italy) — obtained from the fruit of milk thistle (Silybum marianum) in complex with sunflower phospholipids (phosphatidylcholine). Silybin is the most active flavonoid in silymarin, the complex of flavonoids present in milk thistle, and is recognized in traditional European medicine for its association with liver well-being. The phytosome complex results from the binding of silybin to sunflower phosphatidylcholine, converting this naturally water-soluble flavonoid into a fat-soluble compound that can more easily cross liver cell membranes. The phosphatidylcholine present in the phytosome can also directly contribute to the renewal and repair of liver cell membranes. All phospholipids are from sunflower — no soy.
Excipients are hydroxypropyl methylcellulose capsule (vegetable cellulose), microcrystalline cellulose, silicon dioxide, and leucine — all of vegetable or mineral origin.

FAQs
Milk Thistle Phytosome is a silybin phytosome supplement, the main active flavonoid of milk thistle, complexed with sunflower phospholipids. It can support liver wellness and the antioxidant balance of liver cells as part of a daily wellness routine.
It may be useful for those who want to support liver well-being in contexts of environmental exposure, occasional alcohol consumption, long-term medication use, or high-fat diets. People with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (fatty liver), hepatitis, early-stage cirrhosis, cholestasis, or those recovering from liver damage may be interested — always in addition to medical supervision.
Silymarin is the flavonoid complex found in milk thistle, composed of silybin, silydianin, and silychristin. Silybin is the most abundant and biologically active of the three. Silybin phytosome (Siliphos®) is silybin bound to sunflower phospholipids, which transforms it into a fat-soluble compound that can more easily cross cell membranes, thus favouring its absorption by the body compared to conventional milk thistle extract.
